Message from the Head of School

Founded in 1953 by Dr. Edwin Heinrich, St. Johns Country Day School was a founding member of the Florida Council of Independent Schools and was Jacksonville’s first independent private school to earn its accreditation.

We guide students from age 3 through Grade 12 to understand what it means to Seek Solutions, Accept Responsibility, and Create Collaboration. We cultivate these necessary skills through planned curriculum and premier programs in the classroom and community.  

A multidimensional educational goal guides us. College Acceptance is the result of prior work, commitment, and planning. We redefine college preparatory education by challenging our students to accept responsibility for their education, seek solutions for everyday challenges, and develop interpersonal skills to collaborate with peers and adults. These skills are pertinent to their success at St. Johns and in life.

St. Johns remains small by design. As part of the founding mission, education is enhanced by small classes and a tailored learning experience. We celebrate the interaction of students on one campus where Lower School looks up to Middle and Upper School students and older classmates, recognizing the responsibility of being a leader and role model.
